We love you Emily, i know i say that all the time but you dont realise how amazing your channel is, its full of inspiration and ideas and you have done well, i couldnt be any happier for you that you reached 100k subs, you so deserve it, i still been working on the hyperlapses with the djiu 360 you showed, thank you for the inspiration and everything you do
The LUMIX 20mm 1.7 is the absolute GOAT of lenses for the M43 system. On the OMD EM 10 M2 it’s just a perfect pairing. WIN!
The Lumix 20 and the om-3 is a favorite combo. As always, your insights are spot on.
I absolutely agree the Olympus 17 f1.8 is perfect for family photography. I love this rendering from it
The Olympus 45mm f1.8 is on my list. It’s so small and light, I always end up using it a lot.
While I do enjoy the 20mm f1.7 from Lumix, it’s the one prime lens I might leave at home tomorrow and Saturday, when I have three concerts to photograph, because of the problematic autofocus. I’ll bring my Olympus 12mm f2.0 as my widest and slowest lens and various other faster lenses all the way up to my Olympus 75mm f1.8 and use them all with wide open aperture because of the low light conditions at the concerts.
I got my first camera this week (OM5), which came with the 12-45mm kit lens. After thinking it was a mahoosive lens (how little I knew!), I decided to get the Lumix 20mm F/1.8 pancake lens so I could take the camera out for a play without feeling like I had a brick around my neck. I could see everyone complaining about the “slow” AF but as I’m a newbie with no frame of reference, I decided to get it. Plus, a second is not a long period of time imo.
So many photographers say 20mm is their preferred lens and I can see why. I was NOT expecting it to make a noise when I took photos, though! I thought my camera was broken until I realised it’s just how the lens rolls.
So glad to see we share the same passion for the Lumix 20mm. My best lens ever. I’d only switch it for an updated version. But, even the way it is, it would be my only lens, if I could have only one.
I got the 12-32 as a package when I bought my GX85 used a few years back. When I got it I considered it a toy lens. I did use it in a pinch for some indoor shots because it was the widest I had at the time and I was branching into some entry real estate photography. The 12mm indoors was more/less unusable due to the heavy barrel distortion at the edges (even w/ software correction). I eventually got a banging deal on the 7-14mm f4 zoom which has been a game changer and life saver for me. Now I do more events than RE and I bring it along for those unexpected scenarios where I must shoot wide for whatever reason. Anyway, getting away from the small lens topic because that lens is not small (well, not small for MFT lol).
Toy lens impression aside, as I continued to use the 12-32 – man it’s useful!!! You should basically just have that for walking around and then when the light gets too low switch to your fav prime. The 12-32 covers every street scenario and I’ve even seen some people use that by itself indoors with higher ISOs and be FINE for the EDC situation. Toy lens feels, “kids don’t touch that!” photo results.
Thank you. Another great video. My favorite lenses for the m 4/3 are the Panasonic 20mm f1.7, Olympus 45mm f1,8, and the Panasonic 35-100 f4. I love to take them on vacation they take no space. Also, one lens that is not mentioned enough is the outstanding Sigma 56mm f1.4 the image quality is on another level. I have the Panasonic gx9 and a lovely olympus camera that is small and in charcol gray is classy looking, start up time is insteanous, and the image quality is really great the Olympus ep-l10. Easy to use for beginners and for those more advanced offers very good functionality at a low price. For my pro work I shoot Sony but love to take the Ep-l10 camera everywhere and was shocked to see how well the images stacked up against full frame – cheers
Someone’s probably already answered this a million times over, but here goes. The DJI lends that ships from the manufacturer now has the updated firmware which fixes the continuous autofocus. Otherwise, the old version only works with Panasonic bodies. And no, you cannot update the firmware yourself for whatever reason.
Also, I don’t know if the aperture ring doesn’t work on Panasonic, but it definitely doesn’t work on Olympus.
Mine is arriving in the mail tomorrow, so I recently did a bit of a deep dive LOL
All the ones you have mentioned here, Emily are the ones I have apart from the kit lens and the 20mm you love. Maybe it should be the one to live on my GM5 instead of the 14mm f/ 2.5 that currently lives on my GM5. I also have the original Oly 17mm which lives on my OM-3 now. Perfect! When I started with street photography back in the early 2000s I had small cameras. My first digital was the E-P2 and I used the 17mm f/ 2.8 and must agree with you on how lovely it is. I got great shots with it. I do love tiny lenses!! Let’s not discount the 45mm f/1.8, even though it’s not exactly tiny. It is however, amazingly small for what beauty you get!
I agree: the Laowa 6mm is just loads of fun! It inspires creativity and occasionally accomplishes a photo task that can’t be done otherwise. It’s brilliant!
I bought my black mist 1/8 filter from K&F for the same reason.
Thanks K&F for supporting 46mm.
Great video, Emily. Agreed, the 20mm badly needs an upgrade.
I have the Lumix 20mm/1.7 always with me and the still reasonably tiny 42.5/1.7 most of the time (on a GX9). This great combo of both of my favourite focal lengts is versatile and small.
I even like using a similar combo on my FF Lumix: the Sigma 45mm/2.8 and Lumix 85mm/1.8.
